Cala Llentrisca
Located in the south-west of the island, Cala Llentrisca is a hidden gem that is not well-known to tourists. It’s not accessible by car, and quite a walk to get to on foot, however this small cove surrounded by cliffs covered in lush greenery is well worth the effort. It’s not for those seeking busy social hubs, but rather a secluded spot where fishmen keep their boats and mend their nets, next to the crystal-clear turquoise waters. Easier access is by boat, which makes it a delightful private spot to relax and soak up the sun.
Cala d’Hort
Cala d’Hort, also on the south-west coast, is one of the most iconic beaches in Ibiza and boasts stunning views of the famous Es Vedra rock formation. The beach is surrounded by pine trees and the waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. It’s a great place to spend the day, with several restaurants and bars serving delicious fresh seafood.
Cala Mastella
Cala Mastella is a small cove located on the east coast of Ibiza, found at the end of 4km long single road leading from the village of Sant Carles. The sand here is slightly pebbly, and if natural charm is what you are looking for, this cove has that in spades. There are no amenities that you would expect from the large public beaches, and this quiet cove is all the better for it. There’s a small kiosk to buy drinks and snacks, and the local owner is always ready to help visitors with information about places to visit that are off the tourist trail.
Cala Salada
Cala Salada on the north-west coast of Ibiza and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. More natural than some of the island’s busier beaches, it tends to be less crowded, although it is still very popular in the busy summer season. Surrounded by lush green hills and pine forests, the crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
Platges de Comte
Platges de Comte is a series of three coves, with lovely views to several small islands sprinkled off the coast. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Ibiza, with crystal clear water, white sand, and incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s located on the west coast of the island and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, so can get busy in the summer. Platges de Comte is known for its stunning sunsets, so be sure to stick around until the end of the day to watch the sun go down.
Cala Bassa
Cala Bassa is another popular beach on the west coast of Ibiza. ‘Bassa’ means ‘pond’ in Ibizan dialect, and it certainly has all the qualities of a pond, shallow and calm and perfect for families with young children. With stunning turquoise water, soft white sand, and is surrounded by pine trees, it’s an idyllic spot. Sunloungers and beach umbrellas are available for hire and there are also plenty of restaurants and bars nearby where you can grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink.
Platja d’en Bossa
Perhaps the most famous beach on Ibiza, Playa d’en Bossa is the longest beach and a popular spot for party-goers. It has a vibrant atmosphere with plenty of beach bars and clubs playing music throughout the day and night. The beach is also home to a variety of watersports, so if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try your hand at jet-skiing or parasailing.
Cala Nova
Situated on the east coast of the island, Cala Nova is a long stretch of golden sand that’s ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. It’s shallow for quite a stretch, so perfect for families with young children. There are several beach bars and restaurants in the area, and the views of the surrounding hills and cliffs are stunning.
Sa Caleta
This small, rocky cove on the south coast of the island is a favourite spot for snorkelers and divers. The clear waters are teeming with marine life, and there are several underwater caves and tunnels to explore. Many people enjoy the experience of covering themselves in the clay that is found at one end of the beach, it is said to be great for the complexion and circulation! There’s also a popular beach club and restaurant on the beach, making it a great spot to spend the day.
